Alejandro Duque is a Colombo-Australian classical guitarist, composer, and educator. He has done music studies at Bellas Artes Institute, Medellin (classical and electric guitar); University of Antioquia (Maestro en Guitarra); Bachelor of Music at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University (QCGU); and a BMus (Honours) at QCGU, where, has been awarded with academic-excellence recognitions as well as the first place in competitions and guitar prizes.
Alejandro is currently undertaking a Master of Music Research at QCGU under the supervision of Karin Schaupp, head of the guitar department, and Gerardo Dirié, head of the composition department at QCGU. The outcomes of his research studies include lecture-recitals, videos and a CD recording of guitar music of Colombia that has not widely, or ever, been recorded.
Duque has performed as a soloist with various orchestras in both Colombia and Australia including the iconic concerto for guitar and orchestra Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquin Rodrigo in 2017.
Along with his academic and artistic activities, Alejandro Duque currently directs his own classical guitar academy in Brisbane, Australia.
